FREQUENTLY ASKED

QUESTIONS

WHY SHOULD I RUSH?

Phi Chi Theta offers much more than just professional development. We strive to help our brothers grow professionally and socially by surrounding ourselves with like-minded and encouraging individuals. Our brothers are highly accomplished students who are motivated to pursue their passions and to work rewarding and exciting careers. By utilizing the resources and network that Phi Chi Theta provides, we aim to help all brothers reach their full potential.

WHAT IS RUSH?

Rush is a set of events spanning from open informational sessions to invitational professional interviews held at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester at Boston University. Our objectives at rush are to educate prospective members about Phi Chi Theta and to learn more about the candidates for our incoming PNM class. We encourage everyone to attend as many of our events as possible!

CAN I JOIN PHI CHI THETA IF I AM ALREADY A MEMBER OF ANOTHER GREEK ORGANIZATION?

You cannot be in multiple professional fraternities at Boston University; however, if you are in a social or service fraternity, you are still able to join Phi Chi Theta as well.

WHAT IS A BID?

A bid is an invitation to participate in the Potential New Member process in preparation to joining our fraternity.

DO I HAVE TO BE A SPECIFIC MAJOR TO JOIN?

No, we are open to all majors. In fact, the diversity amongst our brothers is one our strongest traits!

IF I DON'T RECEIVE A BID, CAN I STILL RUSH AGAIN?

Yes, in fact, many of our Brothers have rushed multiple times before receiving a bid. We highly encourage those who do not receive bids to always rush again. Candidates who rush more than once show a high level of interest and commitment.

HOW CAN I APPLY TO JOIN?

Please refer to our application page for a Fall 2017 application.

SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT HAZING?

No, in accordance to Boston University and Nationals, we have a strict no-hazing policy.

ARE THERE MEMBERSHIP FEES?

Yes, there are fees and dues but these have been manageable amounts.

WHAT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MEMBERS?

Brothers have the opportunity to run for any executive board positions. Plus, each Brother is assigned to a team which monitors different aspects of the fraternity and has multiple leadership roles within that team.
